If you've always been more than a little curious about martial arts, then please take the time to peruse our site. We hope you might see just the right words that prompt you to take that first step. That step through the doors of your first dojo. Our dojo.

We have been frequently referred to as a 'friendly' club and 'a pleasure to train with'. This is largely down to the teachings of our Chief Instructor Sensei Chris Mileham 7th Dan who has devoted his life to the study and teaching of Martial arts and effective self-defence. We are part of the Shito Ryu Shukokai Karatedo WorldUnion. Our Soke and 9th Dan leader is Ohshita Sensei.

Sensei David Judah Daniel 4th Dan, presides over the Bristol club. In 2017 the club became part of Shukokai England and we rejoined the English Karate Federation.

Growing up in the 70s and 80s Sensei explored combat sports available to him which included schoolboy boxing and wrestling. Beginning karate and martial arts later in life. Starting with Shotokan and then moving on to Shito ryu. Sensei reached 4th Dan in October 2015.

Our club philosophy is to scrutinise technique and practice 'the stuff that actually works' in the dojo and on the street. Karate can be extremely creative but ultimately Effective and efficient self defence. Technique not strength.

We believe we  teach our students powerful skills that could one day save their life.

If any of the above inspires you to do what you have always secretly wanted to do, then please express your interest here, or on our Facebook page.
